Well folks, here it is, the summer months are beginning to lose their heat and the chill is taking over. Living in Central New York the weather is constantly changing. But as Labor Day 2017 rolls around, it looks like we are going to be leaning on the side of chilly weather. But don’t let that stop you from ending summer with a bang! Being that McIntosh loves to have a good time outdoors, we thought it would be fitting to give you a few ideas on how you could end your summer on a high note. Spending your time enjoying the outdoors (weather permitting of course). So as always, sit back, relax and be prepared get some outdoorsy knowledge from the good people at McIntosh Box and Pallet.
First off, if the weather were going to stay crisp and cool, in my eyes hiking would be the first thing I would want to do. It looks and feels like fall is coming early this year. You can even tell by just looking at the trees. Ever so faintly you can see the trees around Central New York starting to change from green to those lovely fall colors of red, yellow and orange. This is a direct indication that the weather is starting to feel like fall and that the late summer nights are beginning to end like fall.
So let’s think about this, when you hike you build up a pretty good sweat right? Well, now that the temperature has dropped it will be much more inviting to take a hike because when you are done you won’t look like a marathon runner who just finished their race in the dead of summer (i.e. sweating like a pig). And, as a reward of reaching the peak of the hike you can look out and see what you have conquered. And this Labor Day Weekend you might be able to see the colors of fall. Pretty perfect reward if you ask me.
Now this next event you’re going to want to act on quickly. Who doesn’t love a nice fireworks show? Right after a baseball game no less? You can’t get more American than that! On Friday September 1, 2017 the Syracuse Chiefs are playing the Buffalo Bison and after the game they are putting on a fireworks show. Now I know what you’re going to say, “don’t you usually want to end the holiday weekend on a bang?” Well yeah I guess if you want to be like everyone else! Change it up a bit this Labor Day Weekend and start it off with a bang! You don’t even have to go the baseball game (don’t know why you wouldn’t go) to see the fireworks; wherever you have a good view you could sit and enjoy the start to a killer weekend! If one thing will get you fired up, it’s a good fireworks show.
And last, but certainly not least when it comes to a holiday weekend celebration an almost sure fire (no pun intended) way to celebrate is at a bonfire with friends (and maybe a few cold beers). Who doesn’t love a good bonfire? With the weather being so chilly, what better way to warm up than a fire in the backyard with some friends? Now we have given you instructions on how to conduct a proper fire in a previous blog post, so be sure to check it out here if you missed it. But if you’re going to start the weekend off with a bang, you might want to end it relaxing by the fire. I know a lot of you readers out there are party animals and will be getting after it all weekend, so cap off a great weekend by the fire with some even better company.
I know these ideas aren’t ones that you will hear about on those “what to do articles” but it’s always important to enjoy the nice weather while you have it. All the readers from Central New York know what I mean, because when winter hits, it HITS! So from everyone here at McIntosh Box and Pallet, have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day Weekend, try and spend as much time outside as you can and remember your time will only be fun if you make it fun, so have some fun this weekend you crazy people!
